In May 2006, Anggun went back to his mother country, and performed concert in Bandung and Jakarta. She was cheered back by the majority of the young Indonesians. It was also an opportunity to express herself on the women freedom which is sometime challenged by some Indonesian rigorists who refer to the Muslim teaching.
Anggun was very clear in saying
"I was born in a Muslim country. I am Muslim. But I’m very concerned that my country is becoming backward in this way. Because Islam is known as a tolerant religion. I don’t support countries that frustrate the young generation."
Her statement was welcomed by a great number of posts, and you can find these post on the website "Indonesian Matters" and by clicking here.
