Bali: The Sari Club bombing

Bali, October 12th, 02: A car bomb destroyed the heart of a night club area, the Sari Club in the island of Bali. The toll to death is around 200 people. Most of them are Austalian citizens, Bali being a familiar holiday destination. Indonesian official reported that they believe the bombers were linked to Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda network.
Teams from the FBI, the Australian federal police, as well as Indonesia's own, tried to decipher the wreckage of the Sari Club discotheque. By far the largest number of dead people, were Australians, the rest came from around the world, from Switzerland to Britain to Korea. Very few were Americans. Since September 11th last year, travellers from the United States have given a wide berth to Muslim countries. (October 19th, 2002)
